Artistic Gymnastics

Artistic Gymnastic is one of the three varieties that gymnastics occur. In artistic gymnastic, Artistic Gymnastic allows opportunity to both Men and Women to compete and display their stamina and skills in the respective routines of Gymnastics. Male gymnast participate in routines like Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse, Still Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars, and High Bar, while women take part in Vault, Uneven Bars, Beam, and Floor Exercise. The Artistic Gymnastic involves usage of different apparatus and performances with the help of these apparatus. Here is a brief introduction to all routines in Artistic Gymnastics.

The Vault routine of Artistic Gymnastic require each gymnast to run down a distance about 25 meter and land on a beat board, on the hands, on the vaulting horse or vaulting table, then spring to a platform of a two footed landing. The judgment for winning criteria lies on the speed of the run, the length of the hurdle, the power and strength the gymnast.

Another routine of Artistic gymnastic is Pommel horse. It involves continuous performance around a horse. The routine is being performed with another apparatus known as a tongue or table from 2001. This new apparatus has made it more comfortable.

Artistic gymnastic involves participating with bars as apparatus too. There are uneven bars, Parallel bars and horizontal bars. On the uneven bars or asymmetric bars, the gymnast perform on two horizontal bars set navigating from one end to another at different heights which are generally fixed with adjustable widths. In Parallel bars, the gymnast usually perform on two bars distant than a shoulder's width apart and usually 1.75m high. A high bar routine involves a 2.4cm thick steel bar to be raised 2.5m above the landing area. The gymnast performs around the bar, known as giants.

The Artistic gymnastic routines are associated with choreography too. The routine of artistic gymnastic involving choreography is the balancing the beam. The gymnast performs a choreographed routine from 60 to 80 seconds. This routine comprises of acrobatic skills with a beam which must be 125 cm high, 500 cm long and 10 cm wide. Floor routine of Artistic gymnastic is also thrilling. As it is takes place on a carpeted 12m × 12m square, provided with hard foam over a layer of plywood, supported by springs or foam blocks generally called a "sprung" floor. The routines in floor routine of artistic gymnastics are choreographed ones in both male and female performance but the difference lies in time frame. Female gymnasts perform a choreographed exercise from 70 to 90 seconds time period while male gymnast performs 60-70 seconds. The music is instrumental. The female gymnast in her performance can not be assisted by vocals while there is no music in male gymnasts' performance. The female floor routines consist of tumbling passes, series of jumps, dance elements, acrobatic skills, and turns while a male gymnast has to show non-acrobatic skills also. A gymnast usually performs three or four tumbling passes that include three or more skills or 'tricks". The judging criteria lies in the rules that require gymnasts touch each corner of the floor at least once during their routine.

Another interesting routine is still rings. In this event the rings are suspended on wire cable from a point 5.75 meters off the floor, and adjusted in height .The gymnast must perform a routine demonstrating balance, strength, power, and dynamic motion without letting the rings to swing down. The apparatus used in this routine are rings. The judgment criterion lies in the best display of stamina and motion using these rings.

With different apparatus used, the Artistic gymnastic appears to be a display of thrillers and excitement.
