Olympic Gymnastics

Olympic Gymnastic have their own significance as these are held among some of the world's finest teams. Male and female gymnasts compete in Artistic Gymnastics and Trampoline while the Rhythmic Gymnastics is only associated with the female gymnasts. In trampoline form of gymnastics, consists of four events, individual, synchronized, double mini and tumbling. Only one is included in Olympics, individual trampoline. This type of gymnastics is full of entertainment and fun but quite demanding in the sense that a lot of hard working is needed.

You get thrilled by such amazing gymnastic acts when these gymnasts whether male or female perform them in front of thousands of people. The world became familiar to Modern Olympic trampoline when it became a part of Olympic Games in 2000. The competitive gymnastic sport of Trampoline demands high skills and is a test of strength and flexibility. These competitions are arranged on a competitive trampoline which allows a skilled athlete can bounce to a height of up to ten meters. There can be trampoline acrobatic stuffs involving a series of multiple somersault and twists. Beside these Trampolines also involved in the competitive sports like Slam ball and Bossaball. By the Olympic Games in 1954, the apparatus and events for both men and women had been structured and standardized uniformly in modern format giving rise to a smooth grading system involving a point system from 1 to 10. In the year 2006, a new points system was enacted. Instead of marking from 1 to 10. Now each exercise is provided with difficulty ratings, the gymnast's start value depends on the exercise routine. In addition to that the deductions in points for any lapse became higher. Earlier to this system the deduction in old system was 0.5 for a fall now after the application of new point system the deduction rose to 0.8.This was done to increase the motivation among gymnasts and to decrease their chances of getting a perfect score. The first perfect ten was scored by a Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci; she scored a perfect ten in Olympic 1976 in Montréal. But that was according to the old format.

Usually the Professional competitions are held on a competitive Trampoline. The frame of a competitive trampoline is made of steel and can be made to fold up for transportation to competition venues. The trampoline bed is rectangular in shape and 428 cm (approx. 14 feet) by 214 cm (approx. 7 feet) in size fitted into the 520cm x 305cm (17' x 10') frame with around 110 steel springs. The bed is made of a strong fabric which is not elastic itself and can be woven from webbing which is the most commonly used material. The elasticity in trampoline bed is provided by the springs. The Olympic medals are awarded in Gold, Silver and Bronze to the good, better and best performer in each category. The other famous female gymnasts who won medals from gold, silver to bronze, for their homeland in Trampoline Olympic competitions in 2004 Olympic in Athen, Greece were Yuri Nikitin of Ukraine, Alexander Moskalenko of Russia and Henrik Stehlik of Germany in men individual performance while Anna Dogonadze of Germany, Karen Cockburn of Canada and Huang Shanshan of China won among the women competitors.

An interesting fact was observed when Vitaly Scherbo from Belarus won six gold medals, including four on a single day. Five of the six golds were in individual events, tying Eric Heiden's record for individual gold medals at a single Olympics.
